What do you want the most – is it money, fame, power, contentment, personality, peace of mind or happiness? This question is posed in the opening of the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill.
No matter what you want out of life I believe changing your mindset, or what you think, is the gateway to opening all the riches sitting there waiting for you to just decide on what it is you want and claiming them.
My previous post from Napoleon Hill was his Self Confidence Formula which I am trying to implement in my own life and as part of my continual personal development I am reading his whole book and thought I would do a series of posts as I journey through the book.
Hill himself suggests that the best way to get the most out of the book is to put into practice the Master Mind principles described in it. The book suggests this can be done by forming a study group. So my idea is to form an online study group where as I read each chapter I will present a post and get others to comment on it and thus have a ‘study group’.
As I study this book and it is in my opinion a book to be studied, I am going to summarise my view of the chapter and then share with you some insights that I learn as I put the chapter into action. I am hoping this will keep me accountable as I implement the principles in my own life and I hope you challenge yourself to take the journey with me.
There are thirteen steps to riches described in the book, each step being a topic I will share. Feel free to get your own copy of the book if you want to read along. You can click on the image at the top to go to Amazons to purchase it or use The Book Depository link here or image in the sidebar or bottom of the post.
The thirteen principles are:
- Desire
- Faith
- Auto-suggestion
- Specialised knowledge
- Imagination
- Organised planning
- Decision
- Persistence
- Power of the Master Mind
- The mystery of sex transmutation
- The subconscious mind
- The brain
- The sixth sense
So what do you think are you up for the challenge? Leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my idea. Even if you have read Hills book before it is such a classic book full of great principles you can never read it too many times. If you would like to join me on my quest to empowerment please follow my blog, leave a comment, share with a friend.
Yours in prosperity

In his chapter on Faith in his book ‘Think and Grow Rich’ Napoleon Hill offers five steps which he calls the Self-Confidence Formula.
I would like to share them with you today in the hope that you find them useful and that you might be able to implement them into your life so that you can create a life of riches (whatever that means for you).
Hill suggests you write it out, memorise and repeat until it becomes a part of the working equipment of the subconscious faculty of your mind.
- I know that I have the ability to achieve the object of my definite purpose in life, therefore, I DEMAND of myself persistent, continuous action towards its attainment, and I here and now promise to render such action.
- I realise the dominating thoughts of my mind will eventually reproduce themselves in outward, physical action, and gradually transform themselves into physical reality, therefore I will concentrate my thoughts for thirty minutes daily, upon the task of thinking of the person I intend to become, thereby creating in my mind a clear mental picture of that person.
- I know through the principle of auto-suggestion and desire that which I persistently hold in my mind will eventually seek expression through some practical means of attaining the object back of it, therefore, I will devote 10 mins a day demanding of myself the development of self-confidence.
- I have clearly written down a description of my DEFINITE CHIEF AIM in life, and I will never stop trying, until I shall have developed sufficient self-confidence to attain it.
- I fully realise that no wealth or position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice, therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealousy, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude toward others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself.
Hill also suggest you sign your name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full FAITH that it will gradually influence your THOUGHTS and ACTIONS so that you will become a self reliant and successful person.
Hope you implement this into your life. Leave a comment below and let me know what you think of Hills formula and if you think it will change anything for you in your life. Please share it with your friends if you think it will benefit them.
